In
1997, the Swanzey Police Department was facing a crisis. The
previous police station was inadequate for the department's
needs, and the town had no resources for a new station. At
that point, the Swanzey Post of the American Legion graciously
offered the land that the station currently rests upon to
the perpetual use of the town and department, for the cost
of one dollar.
The men and women who form the American Legion
served to protect their nation on foreign soil, risking the
ultimate sacrifice so that we at home can live in peace. Their
generosity to the Town of Swanzey and the Swanzey Police Department
once again proves their dedication to the safety of Americans
everywhere, at home as well as abroad. |
